Andrew Payson is a piano teacher based in Los Angeles. He is the author of 4 music books including New Classics, Payson Method Piano, Robots and Unicorns: Piano Songs for Kids and How to Read Music. He has a B.A. in music from American University, has taught piano at The Buckley School, and has been teaching private music lessons for 19 years. He is currently a piano instructor at Oakwood School in North Hollywood.
Outside of teaching, Andrew has composed music for a wide array of projects including documentaries, feature films, advertisements, plays, and podcasts. His work has been featured by PBS, E!, MAXIM, People, and fortune 500 companies.
In 2018 Andrew founded Payson Method, a company dedicated to developing creativity through music. Payson Method offers piano books, tutorials, and free resources.

About the Lessons
Andrew Payson’s teaching is based in classical technique with a strong focus on music reading skills. He has developed the Payson Method Music Program, which includes the books New Classics and Payson Method Piano. These two books provide all of the sheet music and technical knowledge necessary to go from beginner through intermediate level piano. After that, students will be ready for music by composers such as Beethoven, Bach, Chopin, and Mozart. It is strongly recommended that students purchase copies of New Classics and Payson Method Piano prior to beginning lessons.
Composition Lessons are also available. Learn about musical development, form, orchestration, music production, and more. Composition can be the sole focus of the lessons or integrated into piano lessons.
